We get kids on bikes. We’re outside, exploring new places. We’re igniting a lifelong passion for riding. Founded in 2009, the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) develops inter-school mountain biking programs for student-athletes across the United States.
NICA’s mission is to build strong minds, bodies, character, and communities through cycling, and our vision is for every youth to be part of a thriving cycling community. We strive to cultivate lifelong cyclists.
We have no trials, and no one sits on the bench. Everyone rides.
And now we’re coming to Australia!
NICA’s core values of fun, inclusivity, equity, respect, and community are evident throughout our national organisation and Leagues, and are what we’re bringing to Australia. NICA recognises the importance of participation in NICA League events for all student-athletes, free from discrimination based on race, religion, or gender identity.
Fun: NICA inspires friendship, joy, and adventure.
Inclusivity: NICA believes everyone should be able to participate and feel welcomed, respected, and supported.
Equity: NICA is committed to fair treatment, equal access, and eliminating barriers to encourage participation for all.
Respect: NICA expects consideration for all others, oneself, and the outdoors.
Community: NICA unites diverse people and communities by creating fun and welcoming experiences.
NICA will be holding Try-It-Out events in Australia this summer!
These events are designed to provide a structured and welcoming environment for youth to try mountain biking and learn more about what NICA has to offer. Our try-it-out events are perfect for beginners and experienced riders alike, offering a chance to explore the sport in a fun and inclusive setting.
The first Try-It-Out event will be on 30 November 2024 at Mt. Stromlo, Canberra.
